About

The History Of Upholding Real Tolerance in America

Founded in 2019, the New Tolerance Campaign (NTC) was a 501(c)(3) nonprofit watchdog organization dedicated to exposing intolerance, ideological double standards, and institutional hypocrisy in American public life. The organization focused its work on influential institutions — including civil rights and advocacy organizations, universities, socially conscious brands, corporations, media organizations, and other entities that positioned themselves as arbiters of "tolerance, inclusion, and social responsibility." NTC received federal tax-exempt status in 2020.

The newfound nonprofit organization sought to hold those institutions accountable to the standards they publicly promoted. Through research, public education, grassroots advocacy, accountability campaigns, and earned media, the organization documented instances in which institutions appeared to apply principles of tolerance or equal treatment inconsistently based on ideology, politics, religion, or viewpoint.

A central part of NTC’s approach was empowering ordinary Americans to participate in institutional accountability. Its campaigns provided supporters with opportunities to contact corporate and institutional leaders, raise public awareness, and call attention to policies or actions the organization believed conflicted with an institution’s stated values.

Over time, NTC developed several signature initiatives that combined research with public advocacy. These included the Hate Map, which documented organizations and incidents that NTC identified as contributing to intolerance or politically motivated hostility; the annual Worst of the Woke Awards, highlighting prominent examples of institutional double standards; and the Champion of Tolerance Awards, recognizing individuals and organizations that demonstrated a commitment to viewpoint tolerance and equal treatment.

NTC also maintained a growing archive of research, campaigns, and institutional case studies designed to preserve a record of these disputes and provide resources for journalists, policymakers, advocates, and members of the public.

At the end of 2026, NTC was strategically acquired by the Coolidge Reagan Foundation (CRF). The New Tolerance Campaign’s work, research, and signature programs have officially become part of the Foundation. CRF is preserving New Tolerance Campaign's body of work while carrying its accountability mission onward as The Coolidge Reagan Foundation’s New Tolerance Campaign Program.
