Washington Times: U.S. businesses push transgender advocacy for Pride Month

Out Leadership — an LGBTQ business network with 94 corporate members including Amazon, American Express, Bloomberg, Citi, Coca-Cola, Comcast, Goldman Sachs, IBM, Microsoft, Nike and Walmart — says it’s good business to embrace those gender identity trends. But Gregory T. Angelo, president of the conservative New Tolerance Campaign, says businesses lose longtime customers by celebrating ever more-marginalized “sexual orientations and identities.” “Gay has become boring, so the left needs to find new oppressed identities to feed the cash cow,” said Mr. Angelo, who is gay. “When you embrace a wide array of nontraditional identities, you’re going to alienate traditionalists.” Read more in The Washington Times here.

In a letter co-signed by Color Us United and Consumers’ Research, the New Tolerance Campaign demanded American Express CEO Steve Squeri provide transparency into the company’s woke “diversity” instruction. The company has reportedly implemented race-based hiring initiatives and other un-American practices as part of its $1 billion investment in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Yet the company refuses to disclose exactly what it is teaching employees. “The alarming revelations about the company’s culture, hiring and bonus practices, and corporate trainings present major potential liabilities for its brand,” stated NTC’s President Gregory T. Washington Times: Conservatives Rack Up Wins Against “Woke” Corporations

Three conservative groups — New Tolerance Campaign, Color Us United and Consumers’ Research — sent a letter asking American Express CEO Steve Squeri to end several policies at the credit card company’s shareholders meeting this Tuesday. The letter highlights internal company documents about staff training in “microaggressions” and support for Black Lives Matter. It also cites documents showing that American Express ties 15% of executive bonuses to a colleague diversity policy that incentivizes managers to hire and fire employees based on their race and sex. Mr. Angelo, a former executive director of the conservative LBGTQ group Log Cabin Republicans, said “woke” virtue signaling “doesn’t get much worse than AmEx.” Read more in The Washington Times here.

Federal campaign watchdog fines DNC, Clinton campaign over dossier spending disclosure

The Federal Election Commission has agreed to a fine of over $100,000 against the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign over an investigation into alleged misreporting of spending related to the now-infamous Steele dossier. The FEC fined both organizations after a pair of now years-old complaints — one from the Campaign Legal Center and another from the conservative Coolidge Reagan Foundation — alleged that the party and campaign reported payments to the powerhouse Democratic law firm Perkins Coie as legal expenses, when in actuality some of the money was earmarked for “paying Fusion GPS through Perkins Coie to conduct opposition research on Donald Trump,” as the Campaign Legal Center’s original complaint read. The DNC and the Clinton campaign collectively agreed to pay $113,000 in fines, according to separate conciliation agreements the agency made with both parties. The DNC will pay $105,000 and the Clinton campaign $8,000. The FEC conciliation agreements were made public Wednesday after the Coolidge Reagan Foundation first shared a response letter from the agency with the Washington Examiner. POLITICO independently obtained a second, and similar, letter the agency sent to the CLC. The Steele dossier, which was first made public when BuzzFeed News published it in January 2017, contained a variety of accurate, inaccurate, unproven and sometimes salacious allegations about ties between Russia and Donald Trump, as well as others in his orbit. The conciliation agreements found “probable cause to believe” that both the campaign and national party “misreport[ed] the purpose of certain disbursements” when they said certain payments to Perkins Coie were for legal fees. The pair of agreements were signed for the Democratic groups on Feb. 16 by Graham Wilson, an attorney who was formerly at Perkins Coie and is now at the Elias Law Group. In the agreements, the DNC and Clinton campaign contend that they believed they properly disclosed the spending. The agreements read that the party and campaign do “not concede, but will not further contest the Commission’s finding,” in order to settle the matters and not incur more legal costs. Scoop: FEC fines DNC and Clinton for Trump dossier hoax

The election agency said that Clinton and the DNC violated strict rules on describing expenditures of payments funneled to the opposition research firm Fusion GPS through their law firm. The College Fix: Georgetown suspends scholar for tweet against Biden’s ‘affirmative action’ Supreme Court nomination process

Scholar apologized for poorly worded tweet, but still placed under investigation Georgetown Law has suspended an incoming administrator for a tweet that criticized President Joe Biden’s public pledge to only nominate a Black woman to the Supreme Court to replace Justice Stephen Breyer. Constitutional law scholar Ilya Shapiro was slated today to begin his new role as executive director of the Georgetown Center for the Constitution, but on Monday it was announced he has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation, the dean of the law school announced. Shapiro’s now-deleted Jan. 26 series of tweets read: “Objectively best pick for Biden is Sri Srinivasan, who is solid prog & v smart. Even has identity politics benefit of being first Asian (Indian) American. But alas doesn’t fit into the latest intersectionality hierarchy so we’ll get lesser black woman. Thank heaven for small favors? Because Biden said he’s only consider[ing] black women for SCOTUS, his nominee will always have an asterisk attached. Fitting that the Court takes up affirmative action next term.” After receiving backlash, Shapiro quickly released an apology. Read more from The College Fix.
